Become a Unified Sports Partner

Unified Sports

Unified Sports programs are dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports teams are made up of people with intellectual disabilities (athletes) and people without disabilities (partners). Team members are of similar age and ability to facilitate the excitement and challenge that Special Olympics is all about!

Becoming a Unified Partner

Partners play an invaluable role in the lives of our athletes — becoming teammates and friends with our athletes on and off the playing field. Participation on community-based teams is open to all interested individuals ages 8 and up.

  1. Contact Special Olympics Utah at 801-363-1111 ext. 1. A member of the Program Staff will help you identify what geographical area you are located in and connect you with team you want to partner with to see what opportunities are currently available.
  2. Complete these forms and submit them to your local program:
    1. Unified Partner Registration Form
    2. Background Check Request Form (if over 18)
    3. All Unified Partners 18 years of age and older will be subject to a criminal background check, for the safety of our athletes.
    4. Concussion Policy Form
  3. If you are 18 years of age or older, you may take the requisite Special Olympics Protective Behaviors Training online while you wait for your application to be approved.
  4. Once you are approved to be a Unified Partner, start having fun!

For further assistance, contact the Regional Area Manager or Field Area Coordinator in your area.
