The annual PGA Utah Section Siegfried & Jensen Utah Open will be held at Riverside Country Club in Provo on August 22 – 28th. The Utah Open welcomes both amateur and professional golfers and is an official PGA Tour Event. It is one of the largest pro-ams in the country and the only one that utilizes Special Olympics athletes as a significant contributor to host the tournament.
Pro-Am: Monday – Thursday, August 22 – 25th
Tournament: Friday – Sunday, August 26 – 28th
The Utah Section PGA is a long-time supporter of Special Olympics Utah. The Siegfried & Jensen Utah Open is a third-party event and a portion of the proceeds goes directly to benefit Special Olympics Utah’s athletes and programs. The Utah Open participants are amateur and professional golfers.
Special Olympics Utah provides all of the volunteers to support the Pro-Am and Tournament. We are seeking individuals and groups to help. You will be working side-by-side with Special Olympics Utah staff, athletes, teams, families and members of the community to support the Utah Open. By volunteering at the Utah Open, you are supporting Special Olympics Utah athletes as the Utah Open raises critical funds for our sports training, competitions and programs. Enjoy a beautiful day on the golf course and feel good knowing that you are helping bring the joy of sports to one more Special Olympics athlete.
Individuals & Groups
Check out the online registration and job descriptions. There are morning, mid-day, early and late afternoon shifts available Monday – Sunday. Youth ages 12 – 15 may volunteer with adult supervision. Ages 16 and older can volunteer on their own. Individuals should sign up online. There are a limited number of small group spots available (up to 10-12 individuals). For groups, contact Judy Hut, Outreach & Volunteer Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org to see what is available and make a reservation. Each volunteer will receive one PGA golf shirt and a hat (while supplies last). The Utah Section PGA also provides one meal per volunteer, per shift.
Special Olympics Utah athletes and teams are encouraged to volunteer whether it is for one of their outreach requirements, to get involved in a community event or just to have fun. Independent athletes are welcome to volunteer on their own. Others may volunteer with a chaperone. Check out the online registration and job descriptions, but please contact Judy Hut at email@example.com if you have any questions about what spot would be best for you, your athlete or team.
Short Game Challenge on Monday afternoon. A few Special Olympics Utah golfers will be paired with local celebrities and have the opportunity to participate in a Short Game challenge on Monday. Please note that Special Olympics Utah athletes will not be competing in the Utah Open, but many play a significant role in helping run the event.
