There’s something electric about the air when Summer Games season arrives. It’s not just about medals or podiums—it’s about the moments in between: the proud tears of a parent on the sideline, the dance party breaking out on the track, the high-five that turns a stranger into a lifelong friend.
From May 29–31, all of that and more is coming to Southern Utah University as we kick off the 2025 Special Olympics Utah Summer Games in Cedar City.
And trust us—you don’t want to miss it.
So, what are the Special Olympics Utah Summer Games?
The Special Olympics Utah Summer Games is our largest state-level competition of the year. Over 600+ athletes and unified partners from all across Utah will come together to compete in Athletics (track & field), Soccer, and Swimming—but that’s just the beginning.
It’s a weekend of celebration, inclusion, and community. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, volunteer, family member, or fan, there’s a place for you here.
What makes it special?
- It’s athlete-driven. These Games aren’t just for our athletes—they’re led by them. From the torch-bearing Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run to athlete leaders helping host events, this is their moment to shine.
- It’s more than sports. We’ll have an interactive Olympic Town experience, resource booths, games, music, and giveaways—and of course, the always-popular Victory Dance on Friday night.
- It’s about well-being, too. The Healthy Athletes program will provide free health screenings—including dental, vision, hearing, fitness, and more. This important initiative helps identify unmet health needs and promote lifelong wellness. (Please note: Healthy Athletes is not open to the general public.)
- It’s a movement. Special Olympics Utah is about more than competition—it’s about changing perceptions, building bridges, and proving what’s possible when we lead with inclusion.
