Each spring, law enforcement officers across Utah lace up their running shoes and carry the Flame of Hope through their communities in support of Special Olympics Utah athletes.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is more than a run — it’s a powerful symbol of partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes. Officers, athletes, and community members come together to celebrate inclusion while raising awareness and support for year-round sports, training, and leadership opportunities for athletes of all abilities.
Torch Runs take place in communities across the state and lead up to the Special Olympics Utah Summer Games, where the Flame of Hope arrives during the Final Leg in Cedar City, UT on May 28, 2026.

Shirts are $25 each, which also serves as the Torch Run registration fee for all participants.
Additional shirts may be purchased for fellow officers, athletes, family members, and supporters who want to show their support for Special Olympics Utah.
Delivery and pickup is available for pre-ordered shirts.

Carrying the Flame of Hope
For more than 40 years, the Law Enforcement Torch Run has been the largest grassroots fundraising movement for Special Olympics worldwide. Here in Utah, hundreds of officers proudly run alongside athletes each year, carrying the Flame of Hope into the Summer Games.
Together, they help ensure that Special Olympics Utah athletes have the opportunity to train, compete, lead, and belong.
