2026 Health & Wellness Fair Recap

A Powerful Day for Our Community

Picture1This year’s Health & Wellness Fair brought together individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), families, and the broader community for a day centered on access, care, and connection. What we saw was clear: when barriers are removed, people show up.

Focus on the West Side

This event was intentionally designed to reach Salt Lake’s West Side—and it did.

  • More than 90% of Spanish-speaking participants were from the West Side
  • Strong participation from individuals new to Special Olympics Utah

This is where access matters most—and where this work will continue to grow.

The Impact

  • 219 individuals with IDD served through free health screenings Picture2
  • 300 additional attendees including families and community members
  • 177 first-time or West Side participants
  • 400 meals provided
  • 73 community organizations and vendors onsite

This was one of our most impactful outreach efforts to date.

Health Services Delivered

  • Vision (Opening Eyes): 99 screenings, 40 follow-up appointments
  • Dental (Special Smiles): 98 screenings
  • Primary Care (MedFest): 79 screenings
  • Hearing (Healthy Hearing): 72 screenings
  • Physical Therapy (Fun Fitness): 69 screenings
  • Health Promotion: 64 screenings
  • Podiatry (Fit Feet): 59 screenings

The demand underscores the need for continued access to these services.

What’s Next

The need is real—and growing.

We’re building on this momentum to expand access to care, deepen community partnerships, and reach even more individuals with IDD across Utah.

Thank You

To everyone who showed up and made this possible—thank you. You helped deliver care, connection, and dignity to hundreds of individuals and families. And we’re just getting started.

We are grateful to the Larry H. Miller Company, Kahlert Foundation, Salt Lake Education Foundation, Salt Lake City School District, Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, & University of Utah Health for making this possible.

We'll be back in 2027. Watch this space!
