Harmon’s Neighborhood Grocer — “Go for the Gold”
Harmon’s Neighborhood Grocer has supported Special Olympics Utah teams and athletes for more than two decades. Many athletes work in Harmon’s grocery stores, and Special Olympics Utah is proud to have Harmon’s Neighborhood Grocer as its Presenting Sponsor.
Each year during March, Harmon’s Neighborhood Grocer and Special Olympics Utah team-up for the “Go for the Gold” campaign to raise awareness about individuals with intellectual disabilities and give members of the community an opportunity to contribute and raise funds for Special Olympics Utah. Events that are associated with Harmon’s promotion of Special Olympics Utah include:
- A bowling tournament where Harmon’s employees create teams, and peer-to-peer fundraise for the opportunity to bowl with Special Olympics Utah athletes.
- Root beer float sales in all the Harmon’s stores on Fridays and Saturdays. Customers meet and talk with Special Olympics Utah athletes and coaches, learn more about the sports offerings, and purchase a root beer float, or just make a donation to Special Olympics Utah.
- Customer donations at the check-out register–$1 for bronze, $3 for silver or $5 for gold.
- A charity golf tournament hosted by Harmon’s.
Money raised from the Harmon’s “Go for the Gold” campaign is used directly to benefit Special Olympics Utah athletes through sports training and competition, and many other programs including Healthy Athletes.
Special Olympics Utah extends its heartfelt thanks to the Harmon’s Family and Team for believing in the athletes of Special Olympics Utah.
